My Story
I have been cooking since I was 9. My father and grandfather owned grocery stores so I have been around food and foodies my entire life. Cooking is my passion and I am constantly striving to improve all that I do. So I am thrilled you are interested in learning to cook or improving your skills.
I am a culinary instructor in Houston and taught with Leisure Learning for over 20years. I am a volunteer chef at Recipe for Success and have also taught classes in professional kitchens at Central Market and Rice Epicurean. Summers are spent teaching cooking techniques and recipes to children at venues that include Wharton Kids' College in Sugarland, St. Luke's Methodist Church in Houston, and West University's After School Program called Kid's Connect . I am a private chef and also cater for special events.
One of my favorite pastimes is testing recipes for chefs and providing feedback to help their recipes come to publication. I've appeared on Houston's Fox 26 TV in Houston as a guest chef several times, and have been interviewed by Cleverley Stone on her CNN News 650am radio program to discuss organizing a kitchen to make it chef friendly.
I have been a judge at the Houston Annual Firefighters' BBQ Cook-Off and have done food prep demos in Dillard's bridal department. I often cater and teach at various events such as bridesmaids luncheons, singles' groups, mom's clubs, and private parties.
I wore many professional hats prior to my full-time cooking career, including bridal consultant for Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, elementary and middle school reading specialist, and middle school counselor.
I hope I have the opportunity to teach you what I know in the kitchen. or at the very least some great recipes and techniques to impress your friends and family.
